Our Programs
Every year, millions of pounds of edible food go to waste. Our mission is simple: reduce food waste and redirect it to essential neighbourhood food programs and social service organizations.
Together, we’re creating a more sustainable, compassionate community.
Get Involved
We engage volunteers to help food businesses in Metro Vancouver divert surplus food, while supplying nonprofits with fresh, nutritious food.

What drew me to Vancouver Food Runners was how clear and purpose-driven the work is. After spending the past few years in the food systems space, I’ve come to really value the role that last-mile food delivery plays in getting good food to people quickly and consistently.

One moment that sticks with me was during the early days of the pandemic. Almost overnight, all our events and corporate catering clients had to cancel. We were left with hundreds of fresh meals and nowhere for them to go. Vancouver Food Runners helped us act quickly, and within hours, those meals were rerouted to shelters and community groups across the city.

Nonprofits are near and dear to our hearts at Rock & Bloom. We love the opportunity to really help to affect change for an organization and the nonprofit sector is where we really see this come to fruition. We wanted to make sure the refreshed brand clearly communicated VFR’s mission, impact, and core values. So, we focused on refining the messaging to better connect with your key audiences through themes like sustainability, community, and food justice.

I began my work in the DTES in 2007, as a student in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at UBC, in the Global Resource Systems program. My journey was shaped through pathways of questioning of accessibility and cultural relevance within food system security. Over the past 18 years, I’ve continued to deepen my understanding by actively supporting Indigenous Food Sovereignty and Food Justice, while respectfully contributing to interconnected communities of care.

I think we’re moving in the right direction, especially in a city like Vancouver, but there’s always room to grow. In the food industry, I’d love to see more support and awareness around strengthening existing food donation networks, while also encouraging new initiatives—whether big or small—to step in and help. Feeling that collective support is incredibly motivating. When people believe in an idea and work together to bring it to life, the impact becomes even greater.
