I'm a second generation immigrant, born and raised in Vancouver on the traditional and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. My interest in food systems work began when I was part of one of the City of Vancouver's first high school garden programs. Since then, food has become an important mentor to me, as it is deeply intertwined with people's identities, politics, and the land and water from which it originates.

The mission spoke to me right away and addressed multiple intersectional issues that had always weighed heavily on my heart and mind. I signed up to do my first rescue and was immediately hooked. The feeling of knowing that I was supporting community members with good nutritious food, mitigating landfill waste, and combatting CO2e emissions was profoundly fulfilling.

What drew me to Vancouver Food Runners was how clear and purpose-driven the work is. After spending the past few years in the food systems space, I’ve come to really value the role that last-mile food delivery plays in getting good food to people quickly and consistently.
